City Considers Veterans Proposal
Greg S. Williams - May 11, 2014 At
the May 6th meeting of the Barnesville City Council, Mayor Peter
Banks discussed a request by the commander of American Legion Post 75 to establish a program that would memorialize local veterans by lowering U.S. flags at City facilities to half-staff. Banks said current research suggests a policy of this nature may be a violation of U.S. Code and that officials may instead consider use of a City flag if the practice is approved. Audio of the Mayor's comments is attached below. |
