Concerned Citizens Will Meet Saturday In Pike

February 17, 2010

Once again citizens concerned about the economy and Pike County will gather to discuss ways to help our legislators keep a few things in mind as they approach the finalization of our 2010 /2011 budget.

All of Pike Countys citizens are urged to attend the February 20, 2010 rally being held in the Pike County High School cafeteria at 2:00pm.

The issues at hand are holding the line on or a reduction of property tax as well as bringing local government under control by doing several things.

Eliminating the fat from department budgets.

Eliminating un-necessary jobs or departments within departments.

Encouraging an ongoing policy of No New Hires.

Encouraging the floating of employees to eliminate using temp services.

Obeying Georgias Sunshine Law.

In a time when some Pike County citizens have to decide which utility to pay or whether or not they can buy their medications it is vital our legislators stop spending money we do not have.

Many local and regional areas are seeing feeling the impact of run away government and hosting tea partys to inform citizens and try to make an impact of those who decide how our money will be spent.

It is time for the citizens of Pike County to unite in their effort to bring sanity, common sense and legality to our leadership.
