Sheriff: Online Threat Prompts Charge In Griffin

Spalding County Sheriff Wendell Beam said Friday that a Griffin man was jailed there on a charge of terroristic threats after allegedly making statements online that he wanted to take over one of the local schools and shoot students.

Brennan Turbyville, age 17, of 665 Maple Drive, Griffin, Georgia, is being held at the Spalding County Jail on a charge of terroristic threats with a bond of $1000.

Turbyville was arrested January 7, 2016, by members of the Spalding County Sheriff�s Office. The arrest followed an incident that allegedly occurred January 2, 2016.

�I want to thank all of the concerned parents and citizens who reported this incident to school officials and to the Spalding County Sheriff�s Office,� the Sheriff said. �I urge all citizens to report any suspicious or criminal activity to Law Enforcement Officials immediately.�
